Mrs. Mathews, is our Clinical Director, who works diligently to provide the best care for her clients with professionalism, understanding and compassionate approach.

She graduated with a Bachelors degree in Psychology in 2006 from Chapman University.

She has a Master of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from California Baptist University. As a clinician Mrs. Mathews has worked with diverse populations ranging from children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. Her educational and professional experience for over 10+ years includes dealing with diverse mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and life changing issues such as divorce, trauma, grief, health issues, sexual abuse and PTSD. She has also worked with psychiatrists to promote collaboratively care to ensure therapeutic progress toward client's treatment goals.
Mrs. Mathews has additional experience working with children as a kindergarten teacher, Therapeutic Behavioral coach (TBS) for children, and also has worked as a Mental health Worker in a group home with children from 14 to 18 years-old.
Mrs. Mathews also is Bilingual in English and Spanish so she is able to provide therapy in to Spanish speaking individuals. She has been able to connect with many of her clients due to her cultural competency in understanding the latino/hispanic culture.
Mrs. Mathews enjoys spending time with her family, her cats and dogs; reading, spending time outdoors, and traveling are part of some of her favorite activities.

Cynthia Barnett, LMFT 116257
Mrs. Barnett, has historically provided mental health services in the Riverside and Orange county area. With a master degree from the University of Phoenix and a under graduate degree from Bellevue University, Cynthia has worked with adults and culturally diverse populations taking a Cognitive Behavioral and Motivational Interviewing approach to therapy.
With over seven years of mental health and substance abuse training, Cynthia has experience providing individual, family, and couples counseling to people with mental health and/or substance abuse issues.
With experience collaborating with medical providers, Cynthia has worked with Conservator’s Office, Public Guardian office, probation department, rehabilitation providers, and the Behavioral Health Services to coordinate inpatient and outpatient services for individuals with mental health and substance abuse issues. Cynthia has experience working in a crisis residential facility, interviewing individuals for mental health services as well as facilitating substance abuse and mental health groups. Cynthia also, provides coping skills and evaluations for clients with substance abuse and mental health issues. Cynthia has been a member of California Marriage Family Therapist (CAMFT) since 2011. Cynthia volunteers her time in the community, enjoys cooking, reading, organizing, and decorating.

Debra Llera, LMFT 11711

Ms. Llera has worked in healthcare since 1985, including clinical nursing and mental healthcare in private and group practices. Ms. Llera also worked as a Certified Medical Transcriptionist for over five years covering many areas of medicine. Ms. Llera graduated with honors earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, as well as graduated with honors earning her Master of Science degree in Counseling, with an emphasis in Marriage, Family, Child therapy from University of Phoenix. As a Licensed Marriage, Family, Child Therapist, Ms. Llera is passionate as a helping professional for individuals from all walks of life experiencing challenges they are not quite sure they can solve. During her career, Ms. Llera has worked with clients from nearly all age groups beginning at age six and extending to the elderly. Ms. Llera has extensive experience working with and treating individuals who have experienced complex trauma, abuse, and neglect including severely emotionally disturbed children and adolescents in the residential treatment setting. Ms. Llera provides treatment to clients experiencing Posttraumatic Stress / Acute Stress, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder, Anxiety, Bipolar and Related Disorders, Depressive Disorders, Learning and Processing Disorders, Disruptive, Impulse-Control, and Conduct Disorders, Adjustment Disorders, Neurocognitive Disorders, Grief and Loss, Stage of Life Issues, Eating Disorders, and many issues with individuals experiencing Relationship Problems. Ms. Llera thoroughly enjoys working in group and private practice settings with individuals, families, couples, and groups. She has extensive experience collaborating with Child, Family Services, Family Court Systems, and the Educational / School Systems. From a therapeutic approach, Ms. Llera utilizes evidence-based, and strengths-based approaches as well as understands that each client is unique. She strives to gain a thorough understanding of the life experiences of each individual, which assists her in creating a strong framework in which she can help. For that reason, Ms. Llera approaches each client collaboratively and customizes his/her treatment based on symptom relief, the client’s inherent coping skills, and reasonable goals in which the client can successfully achieve. Ms. Llera believes the primary focus in therapy involves establishing a strong rapport and therapeutic alliance with each individual, family or couple through unconditional positive regard, warmth, empathy, and compassion. Not only does Ms. Llera provide therapeutic services for the clients, she focuses on meeting the clients where they are emotionally. She provides stability, consistency, and an unconditional, safe environment. Ms. Llera has extensive training and certifications with the EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) approach. The goal of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Equine Assisted Learning involves utilizing horses as metaphors for client mental health issues in a non-judgmental, experiential, and learning setting. Fun Things to Know Currently, Ms. Llera’ s Co-Therapist (canine), Annabeth is certified as a Therapy Dog through Therapy Dogs International. When appropriate, Anna accompanies Ms. Llera and provides emotional support for clients who need a little extra love, hugs, and warmth. Ms. Llera spends time with her family camping, hiking, horseback riding, and traveling to the nearest mountain range or trail she can find. Presently, Ms. Llera and her husband are training to hike the John Muir Trail, which is 221 miles in 2021. Ms. Llera lives in a 100-year-old country home with lots of critters, including her two great trail horses, four dogs, one cat, and many chickens.
